About

"Any thought you had, we knew it.
Hey, Miss Scarlett, we'll Clue it.
Let's get up, get out, and hop to it.
Romeo, we'll Montague it.
Any lie you told, we saw through it.
Gimme a kabob, I'll skew it.
What do you have in mind?
We'll do it."

I keep bringing up We in classes and I’m really sad that I haven’t even met one other person on the face of the Earth who knows about it. Every futuristic dystopian trope you can think of came from Zamyatin. I haven’t read it since middle school, but some of the imagery has stuck with me — this passage about a nurse with “lips a pair of glittering scissors, his nose a knife blade”, specifically:"The scissor-lips glittered in a smile.'You are in a bad way! Apparently a soul has formed within you.’A soul? That quaint, ancient, long-forgotten word… We would occasionally say soulmost, soulless, soul-destroying, but who ever used that naked word soul itself?'Is that… very serious?' I babbled.'Incurable!' snipped the scissors.”
PDF FOR DOWNLOAD, experience it. It’s a quick read, kills like an evening.
